Family Photoshoot at Praia do Camilo, Lagos

Praia do Camilo is one of the most iconic and cinematic beaches in Lagos — with golden cliffs, turquoise waters, and dramatic rock formations. It works beautifully for family photoshoots, multigenerational family sessions, mommy & me sessions, and couples or surprise proposals looking for something striking and intimate. The catch: it requires good timing and an early start.

WHY PRAIA DO CAMILO WORKS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY

Golden Sunrise Light

The sun rises straight from the ocean — clean, soft light with no harsh shadows. In the first hour of the day the beach feels almost private, and the cliffs glow warm gold.

Sheltered from Wind

The cliffs wrap around the cove and block most of the Atlantic wind. A big advantage for families with young kids who need a calm, comfortable environment.

Dramatic Cliff Textures

Layered golden rock formations and warm tones add depth and character to every frame — without ever overpowering the people in the shot.

Small and Exclusive Feel

Camilo is compact and intimate. That sense of having the place to yourselves — even if just for an hour — shows up in the photos. Perfect for families, couples, and proposals.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • Early start required: We start shortly after sunrise — this is when the beach is empty, and the light is perfect.

  • Stair access: Long wooden staircase to the beach. Manageable, I plan timing so it stays relaxed.

  • Tide matters: Low tide is strongly recommended — more sand, safer movement, especially with kids.

  • Not at sunset: The cliffs block light well before sunset, and the beach gets very busy. Morning only.

HOW A SESSION HERE FEEL

Sessions at Camilo are calm but intentional. We move naturally — walking along the shoreline, exploring rock textures, letting children interact freely. I guide gently without stiff posing so the images remain authentic and timeless.

Because we work early, the atmosphere feels quiet and focused — something that makes a big difference in the final result.

Camilo is one of the few Lagos beaches where the location itself becomes part of the story — if we plan it right.
